Back in 2017 I went to Denver to attend my first Great American Beer Festival. On my first night there I went to the Pink Boots Society Rare Beer event. That’s where I met Brewer Cat Wiest. At the time she was working in Santa Cruz, but then flicked me a note saying she landed a job in Oregon. During my visit to the Oregon Coast last November I thought I would stop by and catch up with Cat at her new position at the Pelican Brewpub in Pacific City, OR.
Located in the majestic Deschutes National Forest is the town of Sisters, OR. I traveled here to visit a brewery that opened its doors during a not so ideal time period when the national economy was in a recession. But they have managed to grow despite the challenges they faced when they opened. I sat down with the team at Three Creeks Brewing Co.
Today I’m speaking with Bandon Brewing Company, a brewery that recently opened its doors in, you guessed it, Bandon, OR. Although they had been working on perfecting their beer before opening some 250 miles away in Portland, OR with the help of some close friends. I sat down with them while at the Great American Beer Festival 2017.
In this episode, I’m in Portland, Oregon. Very excited to be visiting Ecliptic Brewing and speaking with Oregon craft beer legend John Harris. We talk about his history in the Oregon craft beer scene, working with McMenamins Hillsdale Brewpub, being the founding Brewmaster at Deschutes Brewery and his 20 years at Full Sail Brewing. We also talked about, of course, Ecliptic Brewing and his ongoing vision for the project.
In this episode, I’m in Portland, Oregon. Just east of the Willamette River near downtown at The Commons Brewery, where I spoke with Micheal Wright.
